Sapotaceae for the Flora of Ceylon

Introduction
The Flora of Ceylon was a joint project between the Smithsonian Institution, the University of Peradeniya and the Ceylon Department of Agriculture that began in 1968. In 1990, the British Overseas Development Administration (ODA) agreed to support the completion of the project. The work was to be coordinated in Sri Lanka by NARESA (Natural Resources, Energy and Science Authority) and revisions were undertaken mainly by staff at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. The Sapotaceae account describes 13 genera and 27 species.
